Notice about Family Ties

It's been brought to my attention that a lot of people think Canada is dead.

"Well no shit" say my readers. "You blew him up."

That's not what I mean. I mean people think he's chosen to go on into the afterlife because of this line:

“Kids, eh?”

“Tell me about it, aru.”

I want to straighten out, before the next chapter (as I was going to post it tonight but didn't get the time) that this is not Canada talking. It's mama!Britannica. Canadians aren't the only people who sometimes end their sentences in "eh?" orz;;;;;;

I should have noticed this thing sooner. This is what I get for not having a beta.

So I've edited the line to have "huh?" on the end. Hope this unconfuses some people, you may now return to your regularly scheduled theorising on who's in Prussia's room (as though you haven't guessed already). I'll also be including this explaination in the next chapter, for those who've missed it. I fail at writing orz

Of course the Americans can't realize that it's just them who don't use the "eh?" Come on, why would Canada call Wales a kid?

*shot*

*blows smoke from gun barrel*

I kind of agree, though it is an easy mistake to make and I am a massive fail.

[identity profile] aislingthegreat.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. I kinda figured it was Mama Britannica from the context. But thanks for clearing it up!:D Does this mean we can see ghost!Canada?

*is shot by Spoiler Police*

Half my comments on the latest chapter contained a variation of "but why did Canada choose to stay dead?!" to which I initially went "wtf where have they got this idea" until Nena explained it to me as she thought so too and now I am reminded why I'm a massive derp. orz;;;

[identity profile] aislingthegreat.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Meh. It's possibly because a lot of the fanfics with Canada out there have him adding "eh" to every single sentence. People are so used to it that when they see eh they think Canada, hence the current confusion.:( I don't think it's so much that you're a derp as you may not associate that sound with Canada-the-character as much as others might.:D

[identity profile] hellzabeth.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose so. A lot of people I know add "eh" to make their sentence a rhetorical question, like "rough day, eh?" or "clouds looks gloomy eh?". I guess it's just not an exclusively Canadian thing for me unless you're adding it onto sentences that aren't meant to be rhetorical.

/rambles and should stop analysing own idolects.

[identity profile] aislingthegreat.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
But linguistics rambling is fun!:D

[identity profile] hellzabeth.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad you think so, I tend to slip into it a lot. ^^;;;

*giggles at you*

[identity profile] nenamoo.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
/loves

^^

[identity profile] saplings.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
From context, only mama!Britannica would have made the dialogue sensible to me. Being Canadian myself though, I could see where that mistake might have arisen; then again, reserving 'eh' exclusively for Canada seems kinda extreme to me. On the flip side, this is Hetalia so all the stereotypes would be exaggerated to its finest..
...Ignore my rambling; can't wait to see everyone next chapter! ^^

Though, it would be interesting to delve into why Canada would choose to stay dead if that really were the case *shot*

[identity profile] hellzabeth.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
People were just theorising and I thought it was because I had been unclear. I don't mean to do it, sometimes I just fail at narration. orz;;

Also. Sorry for obliterating your country. ;n;

[identity profile] taudrey.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
I know I shouldn't have made that assumption. I'm not Canadian, and even I say "eh" from time to time. *fails at reading comprehension* Don't hit me! x.x

[identity profile] hellzabeth.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
I won't hit you! It's an easy mistake to make.

[identity profile] candesceres.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
...It didn't even cross my mind that that might have been Canada. Why the hell would he have been getting all philosophical with China anyway fff.

But then it's possible I think about the League of Dead Empires way too much and Canada doesn't qualify. /shot XD

/pats

[identity profile] hellzabeth.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
/is patted ;u;

League of Dead Empires what is this. XD That is amazing and should happen. My god they'd take over everything ever just by grabbing their decendants by the ears and scolding them for everything ever.

[identity profile] candesceres.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It's like the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" only for BAMF empires. Or the UN.

I'm assuming. XD

But you do have the occasional observer-state who was probably ruled by said empire at some point orz. And will now poke them with sticks for eternity.

Mama Iberia comes to her kids from across the sea demanding grandbabies, so sometimes Port pretends not to be home /shot ;u;

[identity profile] oozaru-angel.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
I thought Canada chose to remain dead because his land had been absorbed by Quebec and America and so on. XD Prussia said England would have gotten what was left of Wales, if he chose to go on.

[identity profile] hellzabeth.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
^^ my dear, you shall see.

[identity profile] millesettecento.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, phew, I was right to assume it was Ierna then xD

[identity profile] hellzabeth.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed.

[identity profile] fallenxembers17.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
...Canada never even crossed my mind during that scene. *feels like a bad person now*

[identity profile] hellzabeth.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 10:31 am (UTC)(link)
Pfft "who?"

[identity profile] lovelylurker.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
... now I know why people kept saying Canada was dead. I read it as Mama Britannica talking. xD

[identity profile] hellzabeth.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 10:31 am (UTC)(link)
I know, it confused me originally as well. XD

[identity profile] tuulensisko.livejournal.com 2010-09-22 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here. xD I had to go back and re-read the chapter like twice before I got it.
