I mentioned this to someone else, and she said Gilbird would totally be like Lucifer or something, more powerful than Gilbert, but chooses to allow Gilbert to do his thing because it's amusing and less work on his part. But so help you if you ever piss Gilbird off, he'll go all superpowerful terrifying demon on your ass. We couldn't decide if it was funnier to have Gilbert aware or unaware of this fact. Either way, I'm happy to have found someone on the same wavelength as me, lol.
