Family Ties [Part 30]
Apr. 3rd, 2010 06:51 pmTitle: Family Ties
Characters (in this chapter): Canada, America, and a surprise or two.
Rating: 15
Warnings: Graphic descriptions of gore, implications of torture.
Summary: Uh, I need to be banned from the kink meme or monsters like this happen? Essentially, Scotland leaves the UK, which gives Northern Ireland an excuse to up and out as well, which leaves England and Wales all alone. Oh yeah, and this somehow leads to World War Three.
Canada's ears were ringing again.
This was really not the best time for it either, not with those new weapons that some of the NWO soldiers were equipped with, where his only warning was whizzing bullets. It was extremely nerve-wracking and demoralising for his men as well as America's, which was none too helpful if they wanted to push Russia back out of North America.
They had to be careful.
"Al, your ear's bleeding again." Matthew nudged his brother, who blinked dazedly and put a hand to the wound just behind his ear. He'd been unusually quiet, which was almost a good thing. The forest they were creeping through was crawling with enemies.
"Uh, crap, hold on a second." he fished around in his pack for some more bandages, though the blood had soaked through almost an entire roll now. He hissed slightly as he peeled the stained strips of cloth off his head. "Ow ow ow, goddamn bastard Russia." he muttered. "Three days he's been on my land and we still haven't kicked him off. People down south are calling for us to just nuke Alaska..." the Nation grit his teeth as he re-bandaged the wound. "But I'll be damned if I ever do that to my own people. Ow ow- woah!"
America actually made quite a useful bomb detector, providing some kind of forewarning before Canada stepped anywhere he shouldn't. Alfred grabbed his twin by the hood of his uniform and dragged him back before his foot could land on a mine. He probably should have noticed anyway; the earth was freshly turned.
"Thanks." Matthew breathed. Walking across the conquered lands to get info was troublesome as it was.
"S'cool, I'm the hero after all." Alfred grinned as best he could. Somewhere in the back of Canada's mind, a little voice that sounded a lot like England critiqued his brother on how he was an utter wimp that wasn't used to having invasions on home soil and needed to buck up and carry on.
Really, really needed to carry on, because he'd stopped in his tracks where he was. Canada paused too, just in case.
"Al?" he called softly, aware that speaking up would be dangerous this far behind enemy lines. "Al, come on, we've got to complete the mission." Or more accurately, he had to complete the mission. Matthew was the one doing the stealth ops, thanks to his 'low visibility' as England had so politely phrased it. Alfred was here as a sort of human radar. "Al...?"
All of a sudden, America sprang into motion, dragging Canada behind the cover of some trees and covering his mouth to muffle any protests. They got there just in time to watch two figures come down the forest path.
Figures that were horrifyingly familiar.
'Oh... merde.' Canada swore in his mind.
France's hair was unusually messy and a little longer than usual, most of it tied back but with a few strands escaping to frame his face. At the back of his neck where the tied up hair made it exposed, Canada could see bright pink marks, like burns. Every inch of skin was covered otherwise, but the stiffness of his posture was highly unlike his usual fluid motions.
Following just behind him was Scotland, looking very much more well kept than usual. His hair was much shorter than usual, seeming a little darker without all the length to highlight the redness, almost like it was growing back from being shaved. Even his eyebrows seemed to be shorter, though no less dark or prominent. He was abruptly reminded of what England had looked like after Alfred had freaked out during the Salem witch trials and tried the European method rather than hanging his mentor.
There was no spark of life behind Scotland's eyes. Dulled green scanned the area, gloved hands on silencer guns.
France turned back to look at Scotland. "Cher, I think we have been this way before." his voice sounded raspy, like it was too used to screaming to talk.
Scotland glanced around. "Aye, but I think I hear something..."
"A moose, perhaps?"
"... maybe."
Canada struggled to control his breathing, even though he just wanted to scream. It was like they'd been replaced by body-snatchers. What they said and did was just subtly off, in a way he couldn't pinpoint but hung there like an anvil over his head. Scotland stepped in front of France, and Canada thought he could see a brief flash of concern dart across his features.
"Going to take a look?"
"Aye. Stay there. Can't have them shooting ye when I'm meant to be yer bodyguard."
"Of course not."
America's other hand slowly reached for his gun. Canada grabbed it, shaking his head desperately. The North America twins bickered with their eyes, as Scotland crept ever closer to them. Leaves and twigs crunched under army boots, closer and closer until-
"Cher?"
Scotland paused, literally three feet away from the twins.
"In order to get back in time, we have to go now."
A tense moment passed.
"Aye, that's true."
After ten minutes of listening to their parents and mentors march off into the distance, the two remaining Nations let out whatever breath they'd been holding.
"What has he done to them?" Matthew uttered, sitting down at the base of the tree. Alfred's ear dripped blood unnoticed.
"I don't think we want to know, looking at what I could see of Francis' neck..."
"Scotland looked fine..." Canada muttered, half-wishing he had Kumajiro to bury his face in. "But he wasn't all there... behind his eyes." A pause. The forest was silent; even the birds had fled. Canada looked up, a revelation striking him. "France was." he uttered, daring to believe there was hope. "France was awake, but he can't do anything with Scotland like that..."
Alfred grabbed his brother's hand and pulled him to his feet. "Come on, let's go tell the others."
Notes (not many today):
- Salem Witch Trials - most people have heard of this, but it's a common misconception that witches were burned, at least in the USA. That method was something used more often by the Europeans; witches in Salem and America in general were hung by the neck until dead. However, they were tortured in a variety of ways before hand.

Date: 2010-04-03 07:33 pm (UTC)I don't know whether to be horrified or just to laugh my ass off. Kind of on the fence about that one. So I'm going to giggle while going "D8" instead.
It seems that whatever China was working on finally succeeded on Scotland. Geez France. You really have a giant hole to dig yourself out of.
Hey, I'm not for nuking Alaska. :[ But yeah, it would be kind of hard to drive Russia out of Alaska due to the giant lack of people concentration to do much. There's a lot of empty space up there, so everything would be fought with remote weaponry. What does America's bleeding ear signify? And why are Canada's ears ringing?

Date: 2010-04-03 07:45 pm (UTC)Yes, America tried to burn England at the stake. Obviously it didn't work, but eyebrows and hair were lost. Now go back and think about what must have, therefore, happened to Scotland.
Thinking about doing a drabble on exactly what happened to the two of them, but... yeah. France's in trouble.
America's ear bleeding is the damage Russia's doing to the land with his armies etc. Canada's got ringing because of all the commotion and the sudden scramble to get soldiers over to the boarder.

Date: 2010-04-03 07:49 pm (UTC)I can uh... just imagine England's reaction to that once he got free. Lots of yelling and throwing things at his young charge. xD
Poor Scotland. Seriously.

That seems to be a general theme here, ne? XD

CHINA IS CREATIVE ARU. HE IS KNOWN FOR HIS ~VARIETY~
Because I can, dear. Do I need a reason?

Date: 2010-04-03 09:29 pm (UTC)I'm like half "YAY WE GET TO SEE THEM AGAIN" and half "DDDDDDD8 SOB WHAT'S WRONG WITH SCOTTY WILL HE BE ALRIGHT?!" Poor France too but I'm not so worried about him, think he's lived through worse or at least similar. >3<
I was all like "OH" when Canada realized France was in his senses but Scotland wasn't. I thought before that it was as if France was trying to distract Scotland and wondered why, plus their appearances, but it makes a lot of sense that way.
... I know this is weird but I find America's ear bleeding at once both amusing and kinda cool. I mean. Like cool in the dramatic way.
I didn't know about the Salem Witch Trials btw. :O That they hanged them, I mean.
Why is America able to detect the mines, btw? Because they are on his lands?
No changes to the map? I suppose, anyway. But I can link the last one in any case: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/Vismuttitomu/familyties08.png

Date: 2010-04-03 09:38 pm (UTC)Canada is perceptive, as are you. It's like Scotty's the one meant to be protecting France when it's actually the other way around. <3
America looks head trauma look cool and manly. Because that's just how he rolls.
Well now you know~! *star flies across the screen* I studied "the Crucible" in school, which is all about the trials. They did use hot pokers and the like to determine who was a witch though, as well as dunking them in water. (If you sunk and drowned, you were innocent and went to be with God, but if you floated, you were a witch and thus hanged)
America can detect the mines because they're on his land. Nation's lands = part of them. It's like when you concentrate, you can feel your clothes, but usually you don't notice.
No change to the map with this mini chapter. <3 Thanks for keeping up!

Date: 2010-04-04 12:40 am (UTC)omg BOYS. ;A; What have you done aaaaaaah. If this isn't half traumatising to the kids I don't know what is. And fff Salem Witch Trials. <333 Christ America you didn't. OMG. I GOT CHILLS. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE ALRIGHT ENGLAND. ;A; /retarded
And sdf;lkf Scotland. FRANCE. SCOTLAND. I bawwww'd. China what did you dooooo. ;; Admittedly it's been a shorter time for France to have been tortured in the past and whatnot, but fuck... I'm terrified of Scotland now that his mind is gone orz. All that regenerating must really screw him up. D: Though it's sweet that his old Scottish Guard reflexes are still in play when it comes to France. <333 That's the only thing that saved this from being a thriller and me from going ;sdlkfl;dkff for Al and Mattie. OMG.
/still incoherent I don't even D:

Date: 2010-04-04 08:30 am (UTC)Yes, trauma. Poor boys, they're stuck watching their parents/big brothers/mentors/whatevers be all messed up by Russia and they can't do anything about it. And America totally did. England's survived the Plague, he can handle a little witch burning. America was so grounded afterwards though.
France probably thought he was used to torture by now, but it's one thing to have it done to you and quite another to watch your lover get killed over... and over... and over... until he breaks~! Lol, yes, the Scottish Guard. Admittedly, that was kind of accidental on my part (cannot unsee kilt, cannot unsee kilt) but... yes.
/pets you because d'aww I like making people incoherent.

Date: 2010-04-04 08:54 am (UTC)Will someone set Belarus loose on Russia already? SHE'LL SAVE US. ;A; America how could you I don't even. Oh man, England. I just...idk this is the part where I want to give him a cuddle. But this icon will have to do. o/
W-Well when you say it like that orz. Man Scotland, just... that must have been so painful. And I can just see France watching as it drives him mad and omg...I need to draw broken!Scotland. WHY DO YOU DO THIIIIS. Hey now the kilt totally makes the man. And I'll bet he's a great protector! XD You know... how he always charges in and gets beat up but just keeps going because well, so long as France is safe it's all good! orz
/n-needs the pettings orz how could yoooou

Date: 2010-04-04 09:02 am (UTC)But then Russia will just promise to marry her if she murders everyone in his way. >> America went seriously crazy at that time and Artie is very much magically inclined. But yes, cuddles for Iggy.
DRAW IT. DRAW IIIIIIIT, I WANT TO SEE IT. *flails around* plz. ;o; The manly skirt and pulled up socks and
fanny packbag totally make him all the more manly./offers tea and biscuits?

Date: 2010-04-04 09:20 am (UTC)Even if she comes to him in the middle of the night breathing heavily down his neck? :D Tell her he's too busy with France and Scotland and if she joins the Allies they'll help her get him to the altar. /lolwut Witch trials ANYWHERE were crazy orz. And sob, England and his fairies. Which actually brought to mind some awkwardness if Port ever went around wearing an iron crucifix orz. /cuddles anyway :<
HE WILL LOOK SO BEAT UP I DON'T EVEN. The things you do to me. ;A; Don't forget the bagpipes! They need the bagpipe players to lead them out onto the battlefield! \o/
/tea and biscuits makes everything better ;3;
no subject
Date: 2010-04-04 11:40 am (UTC)Pffffffft must resist urge to write that into the story somehow. Waaaa witch hunts, not fun. Oh god if Port wore an iron crucifix around Iggy... well, England would probably end up buying him one made out of a different metal like silver just so he would stop.
YAAAAAAY I MEAN BAWWWWW. You love it really. >] Bagpipes! And the pompoms on the socks! AND THE BERETS.

Date: 2010-04-04 04:34 pm (UTC)As for the rest... :-( :-( :-( :-(
I think I officially feel bad for Scot/France now...maybe a little.
Russia you bastard...I hate you even more because I suspect I know exactly what you're up to with this little diversion... *crosses arms and glares*

gaaaaaah I missed so much over just two days of camping!
Russia YOU ARE SUCH A JERK. *disapproving frown x127837312*
ahaha so not surprised about America burning England at the stake. THOSE DAMN PURITANS, I SWEAR.

Date: 2010-04-04 05:23 pm (UTC)They are kind of in a pitiful situation right now, poor things.
... you suspect? *feels nervous that she's been found out*

Date: 2010-04-04 05:28 pm (UTC)Well we talked about it at one point I think. Something to with someone with a giant Kick Me sign on their backs and needing to distract America.... But maybe I'm wrong...probably I am... ;-)
no subject
Date: 2010-04-04 05:37 pm (UTC)I hope you had fun camping! And you didn't miss it if you caught up. 8D
Russia: 8D Spasibo. <3
OH YOU CRAZY PURITANS.
no subject
Date: 2010-04-05 10:16 am (UTC)You have to admit that would be a rather twisted way for the war to end lol. Though I would feel bad for Russia, despite how much of a dick he's being orz. Oh yes, it was probably a gift from Rome or something. And he's had it for ages. So he doesn't get WHY England keeps making DDD: faces around him. ......of course if your husband buys you a present it WOULD be rude not to wear it, and silver IS nice. :|a
LOL IDEK ANYMORE. I swear only you can make me churn out art this fast even when I'm in a technical artblock. STOP IT. s;dlfk oh Scotland why so classy orz. XD
