And yeah, I usually prepare better when I go to foreign countries other than Scandinavia or Estonia (lactic acid bacteria pills are a life-saver for diarrhea) but it sort of slipped my mind this time...

And yeah, I figured it was that. xD Well, a lot of people JUST say "Chernobyl" and leave it at that. Not like anyone ever talks about the town other than when they talk about the accident. So yeah, Chernobyl happened. *nodnod* (And another interesting fact: if you see a picture from an abandoned town that's labeled "Chernobyl"; it's probably NOT taken in Chernobyl but Prypiat, the town that got the worst fallout (Chernobyl the town itself got surprisingly little) and is totally uninhabited nowadays. Google Prypiat, btw; the photos are amazingly beautiful and horribly sad and totally spooky. The reason they DON'T usually show the real Chernobyl is because the real Chernobyl looks like thisand thisand thisand this. Not very dramatic, is it? It's a quiet town of the population of about 500 nowadays -- not much but way more than you'd think. It has pretty safe radiation levels, although all the food and drinks have to be brought from elsewhere because you'd have to be stupid to eat or drink anything from the area. And actually, check out that photographer's work, especially the Chernobyl journal. It's really interesting.)
And yeah, poor Bela. ._. And... It's not that I know but I'm guessing they probably didn't get the information in time either. It was probably way too late by the time they evacuated, like it was with Chernobyl and Prypiat and the other places on Ukraine's side. Oh and I think here's a good pic if you want to see how bad a deal Belarus got. It's not just "a bit more than Ukraine" either, it's like. Obviously. The most. Fallout. Any country got.
... Yeah, I could talk about the accident and everything about it for hours. xD
And btw looks like I'm fine now. :Dbb *has a bit of a runny nose but otherwise okay*
