We never had possums where I lived, I only saw them when I visited Melbourne, there was half a million of them in the park. Mum wouldn't let me pet them. When I lived in SA though, we had koalas in the attic a couple of times. Very noisy. And then when I visited NT, my brother and I ran wild with the wallabies for some time... And then in WA we had to keep chasing kangaroos off the school oval until the bought a fence... and then again in WA we had to buy a whole flock of sheep to keep the grass down on our property because we were getting sick of having to stamp our boots all the time to scare the snakes off...
It's quite surreal when you move to the city and suddenly you're in more danger of getting hit by a car than bitten by a spider.
