Er, bráthair does mean brother, but I've only ever heard it used to describe a member of a religious order. The usual word for your family member is "deartháir". My brother would be "mo dheartháir" and if one was addressing someone it would be "a dheartháir" because the word changes case when used to address someone. orz
Also, this isn't a huge thing but "bí i do thost" literally means "become silent" not "Shut up". If you wanted to say "shut your mouth" you could say "éist do bhéal" instead.
