Day 08 – A moment
Sitting at the till, chillin' etc. Empty shop, kinda bored.
"Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?" Trills Glenys from the sweetie isle, putting more Kitkats on the shelf.
"Caught in a land slide, no escape from reality..." continues Amanda from the beer section where she's price checking the lager
"Open your eyes, look up to the skies and seeeeeeee~!" sings Phil in a falsetto voice in the milk fridges.
"I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy!" I resign myself to joining in.
The others: "Because I'm easy come, easy go."
All: "Little high, little low."
Phil: "Any way the wiiiind blows, doesn't really matter to meeeeeeeeee."
Amanda: "Tooo meeeeeeeee!"
Customer comes in. Silence returns.
Day 09 – Your beliefs
Huh, what a thing to come up when the Pope's visiting Britain for the first time since the Protestant reformation.
I was raised in a CoE church, but we're considerably less formal than your usual kind. Since we, uh, don't actually have a church building. In truth it was a congregation that started out in someone's front room in the 70s and has grown to about 150 people because of families and kids etc. We're officially called "Life Church" but our nickname is "hobo church" since we don't have a building and use whichever venue we can rent using the collection money. Currently we reside in the back room of a pub.
I have some troubles with my faith sometimes, not least because of my sexuality. I mean, everyone has moments of struggle but sometimes I find myself wondering about the nature of god. I am, however, absolutely certain there is a higher power, a powerful creator being, but the nature of this being I can only wonder at. More than anything, I appreciate the teachings of the bible, mainly the New Testament stuff. The Old Testament God and the New Testament God conflict a lot in personality and opinions.
Mainly my problem with that kind of thing is that people will pick and choose which side of God they want to prove their point. I could probably babble for ages on the matter, but that's an essay for another time.
