Let me just say I'm in love with this story - I spent a whole day just sitting at my computer reading it to catch up! The characterization and plot are great. I was iffy with a female Ireland at the beginning, but now I've grown to love her~
The version of that saying I was taught was "evening red and morning gray sends the traveler on his way - evening gray and morning red brings down rain upon his head." There are a bunch, I bet.
