We're kind of weird in England in that, unlike all the other popular and "big" countries in the world, we never needed to declare independence because more often than not we were offenslaving adding to the harem rapidly and brutally colonising conquering other countries.
We have St George's day which is an understated affair. >> To put it mildly. Most people don't notice it exists.
Though Nena is going to drag me across the channel to the continent to see France's Bastille Day, which should be fun and laughs. WORLD'S BIGGEST PICNIC 8DDDD And the Eiffel Tower, ohohohon.
Oh yeah, and a little rant coming your way, flist. Move on if you are uninterested in my personal life.~
So, my coursework failed (got a U for Ungraded) miserably last year but in the exam I got an A so I figured why not bring up my grade to what it deserves (since A+U=C grace apparently) so I redid the coursework. However, I forgot to fill out this one form to resubmit my coursework. An apparently important form which I thought only applied to exam retakes, not coursework.
I was wrong.
You know how much I have to pay to submit now?
Not £22.10, like usual.
Not £44.20.
But £66.90.
Well there goes all my overtime work pay.
orz.
I don't even have the energy to get all upset over it, mainly because the word "coursework" just immediately makes me slump and sigh in despair no matter how it applies. At the same time, it makes me want to hurt someone, only I'm such a huge wimp irl that I'm usually reduced to writing horrific angst and destroying worlds in my head.
One. Piece. Of. Paper.
I'm considering begging my mum for financial help but then I'll feel awful for taking advantage of the fact she wants me to get to Uni so bad because neither she nor dad went. (They're quite successful in their jobs without it but I digress.) So over all I'm glad I got a paycheck of £280 this month rather than £180 like usual.
But fuck paperwork.

Date: 2010-05-06 11:52 am (UTC)Portugal doesn't have an independance day. There's the restoration, which is on December 1st, and the national day, 10th of June. Because the 10th of June is so close to another holiday, (at least in Lisbon), St. Anthony's day, most people just take that week off or something.
Nearly no one goes to the celabrations of our national day, we just don't care.
Stupid forms.
