Title: Pax Australasia (aka, that one fic where Oz takes over the world)
Characters: Australia, New Zealand, most of the South Pacific
Rating: PG
Warnings: The fact I know little to nothing about Pacific politics myself and had to research, uh, a lot.
Summary: Banished from the world meeting under the disapproving eyes of England, Australia tries to figure out how to bring the region he's supposed to be big brother to under his control. His solution is far from complex; all will become one with Australia eventually.
Australia was being a pest again. No, maybe that was the wrong word. He was pretending that he could be a responsible big brother to everyone around him. Points for trying, but it rarely worked, since the Pacific was so rowdy that nobody really listened to him. Even Nauru and New Guinea ignored him on occasion, and he was infatuated with treating the both of them like they were his own children. But it was really none of Singapore's business. She just wanted to get on with life and attend the business meeting before the end of the week. As long as Australia wasn't going to bug her for anything, such as money, she'd be content to let him do as he wished.
But, well, speaking of pests.
"Keerthi, come on." Malaysia pleaded, dark hair tumbling over her shoulders as she pleaded. "It won't hurt either of us, I'll be really nice to you!"
"Go home, Suhana." Singapore rolled her eyes, stalking down the office corridor. "I'm busy."
"You always say that."
"I'm always busy."
A wordless whine was the only response she got to that, but the footsteps following her stopped. Good, giving her the cold shoulder didn't work usually, but this time it seemed it did. Then she bumped into someone taller than her, not looking where she was going due to keeping her eyes firmly on the floor.
"Oh, sorry..." she said, looking up. Her eyebrows went up in mild surprise. "Brooke, what are you doing here?"
"Just checkin' up on everyone." he replied cheerfully. "How're we doing?"
"I'm late for a meeting, and I don't really have time for this, so if you'll kindly excuse me..." Singapore's patience wore thin, and she walked around the taller Nation. A rough hand grabbed her wrist.
"Hey, come on, we didn't even chat." Australia looked a little put out. "Everyone else at least had a chat."
"Australia, let go of her." Malaysia pouted, possessive as ever. Singapore sulked. Like she was something to be possessed. She was independent, damn it. "She has a meeting, you know she gets grumpy when she can't get the business flowing." The little city Nation thought this may be a little hypocritical of her sister Nation, but regardless it didn't have any effect on Australia.
"What's this business meeting about?"
Singapore gave an irritated huff. "Alternative fuel sources."
Australia let go. "Alright, sorry to keep you waiting. Go ahead, I'll chat to ya later." He gave a sunny grin, and walked over to Malaysia instead. "I'll pitch my idea to Malay first."
"Your idea?" both girls asked. Australia's grin widened.
"I'm a bloody genius. I'll tell you later, Singa, you'll have to come find me. It's your city, you'll manage." he took Malaysia by the hand instead, pulling her along with him. "See ya later!"
Singapore was left waving absently with a confused look on her face. Maybe she should look into what Australia was up to once she got to a Wifi spot.
---
East Timor kicked her feet back and forth on the swing seat in the garden. The sun was shining, it was late may, and she had her laptop resting on her thighs, surfing the internet. Mostly it was news sites, or rather trashy gossip sites for Nations. Half these stories couldn't be true. Some of them were just silly. France and Ireland having a fall out over a football game... China arguing with himself once more, but pretending to the world he's fine... Japan's invented yet another weird fetish that can be branded and sold... Australia making talks with the New Zealand government about joining both states together as one commonwealth.
Wait.
She scrolled back up.
This looked like a reliable source. And she knew Brooke well; if he was having one of his days he might well try it. But the odd thing was that both sides were considering it seriously.
The comments section suggested New Zealand's population itself were much less enthusiastic.
Weird.
... it'd blow over, as usual.
Now how was Papua New Guinea doing. It would be more polite to IM her than just look on the news. But when she checked her status, it claimed "idle" with the subtitle "sorting out Fiji brb".
Pouting, East Timor left a message saying "bored, chat 2 me whn u get bak kk?" and went inside for a glass of juice.
---
"Nauru? Nauru!"
The little boy very quickly closed his phone and shut the door to his room, standing in the hallway and beaming at Australia as he came up the stairs. "I'm over here!" He called in his childish voice. Maybe if he smiled nicely he'd not get in trouble for having the big guys doing stuff for him again. China said he needed to sell his "bootlegs" somehow and Nauru was nothing if not a boy that helped with the best of intentions.
Australia appeared at the top of the stairs, a smile lighting up his face. "C'mere you!" he greeted, opening his arms. Nauru ran in for the hug, and heard his bedroom window shut. "What've you been up to today kiddo?"
"Nuthin' much." he said, giving an extra squeeze as an indication he wanted to let go. The older Nation didn't. "Just playing with my toys and waiting for my nana to come back with dinner."
"And you haven't been doing any of the things I told you not to?" Australia put on his best big brother voice, wagging his finger at the boy, who caught it with a grin.
"No monopoly money here!" he chirped. Brooke laughed.
"There's more on the list than that, dummy." a ruffle of the hair, and Australia strode towards Nauru's room, looking around curiously. "Hey, your room's tidy for once."
"I heard you coming so I cleaned it."
"Don't need to do that for me, but that's sweet." He looked out of the back window. "And you're sure there was nobody here?"
"Well there was the people with the money..."
The taller Nation's palm hit his forehead and he groaned. "Nauru... those are the kind of guys on the list."
Nauru scuffed the floor with his shoes, looking crestfallen. He just wanted to be independent and successful at it. He wanted to impress people. "Sorry... I won't do it again."
Australia gave a weary sigh. "Now, see, you said that before, and you still didn't do it. Gotta say I'm disappointed." he crouched down to the ashamed boy's height. "How are we gonna make sure this doesn't happen again?"
The little boy mumbled an "I'unno", causing the elder to shake his head.
"I'm giving your government a few options, alright? I've gotta keep order in this area, the rest of the world will laugh at us if I don't. Mean, aren't they." he smiled, and Nauru nodded, unsure where this was leading. "And you wanna help me out with that, right?" Another nod. "Great, we'll hear your government's decision tomorrow, okay? Want me to make dinner for you tonight?"
Nauru's heart lept in his chest, thoughts of politics forgotten. "Can we have burgers? Please? Pretty please?"
Australia laughed. "Course we can, course we can. Now where's your nanny got to..."
Notes:
- "Keerthi" and "Suhana" are both Hindi names, but they're very popular in Singapore and Malaysia respectively. Considering their political relations with India, it's not hard to see why.
- I have a theory that watching the news is the equivalent of seeing a gossip channel for Nations. XD
- East Timor and Indonesia are pretty chill now-days, though they had a lot of issues in the past with independence and all that crap. Australia helped sort it.
- Papua New Guinea has a really complicated history with nearly all her neighbours and colonisers, but Fiji's the one causing hassle more recently. Remember that military government? PNG keep finding Fiji making training camps on their land.
- Nauru's a very young, yet independent Nation. Since he's still in child form, I suspect he has a minder or a nanny or something to that degree. Aussie can't be there forever, you know.

Date: 2010-07-10 10:03 pm (UTC)Yeeeaaaah I didn't really go looking around for other people's OCs before I started this. Maybe I should have, just to see which gender prevailed. Though you know what? This fandom needs more yuri. There is not enough.
Oh Aus, he's fighting a losing battle, I feel. :| But how will he get
England's approvalback into the world conference without it?I was delightfully oblivious~!

Date: 2010-07-11 03:49 pm (UTC)(Can't believe it never crossed my mind. Mostly because I always though Malaysia was too much of a bastard to be a girl. Auuuggggfff, wanna draw art now. Of them flirting/arguing with each other, 'cept their faces are so close. My mom might snoop into my notebook though, and she does not approve B|)
You know what Ozzie, just drug all of 'em already. It's about the only way you can succeed.
You can get England's approval by stripping America, tying him up with silk ribbons and presenting him to the pirate bastard. /shotno subject

Date: 2010-07-09 02:19 pm (UTC)East Timor. <333 She was still pretty big on the news here in Aussie up until 1999-2000, and we're still kind of helping her out because she's so buhyooo, I mean. G-Gossip sites fff orz. I lol'd. I suppose she's at that age though...and with Australia as her closest neighbour Portugal regrets not giving her "the talk" back in the day, I mean.
And Fiji's just causing stress for everyone in the Pacific orz. Don't really hear about Nauru much at all though orz. I - I kind of forgot about him. Sometimes I think Australia has a Canada of his own on hand. But he's so cute ugh, stop it with all these adorable kids dammit my ovaries are aching. ;AAA; <333

Date: 2010-07-10 10:12 pm (UTC)She's right next door right? From the map I saw you could basically take a boat from Darwin to her pretty swiftly. I hope you don't mind that I ganked her design from you again ;; it's what I think of when I imagine her. Oh Port you're having a fail parent moment here.
Fiji why you gotta be such a trouble maker. PNG is gonna sort him out, bitches don't mess. >> Nauru is kind of obscure and tiny but there was this one Commonwealth fic and it had an adorable little Nauru running around and being a pest with Sealand and I love it. I FEEL YOUR PAIN I WANT ONE TO HUG AND CALL HIM PET NAMES AND AWWW. ;A; Damn hormones let me get back to my life instead of demanding I have kids.

Date: 2010-08-19 02:02 am (UTC)Agree with candesceres on having English and Chinese name. Our composition is roughly 70% Chinese, 20% Malay, 10% Tamil. We don't even have so much Hindi people *scratching head in confusion*. 'Tan' is the most common surname here I think. Rachel Tan Xin Yi may be.
Indonesia...hmm. weak foreign policies. the citizens have yandere moments but are generally very friendly. Hmm. I have no strong backing for this, but I'd rather Indonesia be a guy as well. Ahah Netherlands was more like a 'brother' than a father...Indonesia's first few kingdoms started very early...like 5th century? Especially Hindu/Buddha ones like...Kendiri? (forgot my history lesson already)...so the nation existed before Netherlands came. Granted it's only unified in 15th century, and Netherlands played a part there.
Huuaaahhh I always like to talk about the ASEAN OCs...anyways, am loving it!! XD
