Family Ties [Part 67]
Aug. 1st, 2010 01:40 amTitle: Family Ties
Characters (in this chapter): Ireland, Latvia, Czech, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Estonia and Northern Ireland.
Rating: 12
Warnings: Pidge attempting to write one chapter then giving up and writing something else instead. Hence why it's late.
Summary: Uh, I need to be banned from the kink meme or monsters like this happen? Essentially, Scotland leaves the UK, which gives Northern Ireland an excuse to up and out as well, which leaves England and Wales all alone. Oh yeah, and this somehow leads to World War Three.
Ireland hadn't had the pleasure of meeting Czech and Slovakia in person before. It seemed she would be getting an impromptu introduction. She'd been having a lot of those lately.
Latvia clung to her side, shaking. If he wasn't so darn hard to hate, she'd have shaken him off by now, but then he might cry and she wasn't a soulless witch as Arthur lead everyone to believe. "S-Slovakia's the one on the left, she's a little shorter than Czech, if you l-look." his stammer had improved though. Odd that. "Czech's louder though. Y-you hear her before you see her. Usually because she's arguing with someone."
Czech also had a slightly more tan skin tone than Slovakia, but they had the same gray-blue eyes. Both had blonde hair of a darker shade than usual, nearly brown in places, though Czech seemed to have highlighted bits of hers. And despite the bindings and bullet proof vests under Slovakia's vest, her mountain ranges were very much... a tourist attraction, if the fact that Austria was turning slightly pink standing next to her and the other soldiers were putting to hell with manners and outright staring was any indication.
Ireland looked down at herself.
Fecking Europe.
"We're here to help you guys kick Russia's butt, prav." Czech asserted with a wide smile, hands on her hips. "We even brought our own weapons. You can't turn us down, prav!"
Elizaveta gave Austria a helpless look, then noticed his line of sight and smacked his upper arm. He cleared his throat and straightened. "Your governments don't know you're here, do they." It was less of a question and more of a resigned statement.
"No, they don't." Slovakia replied, voice soft but assured. "And we're not going home. We won't be under Russia's rule again."
"Not that he'll ever get the bloc up again anyway, prav."
The red headed Nation sighed as they continued to argue. She had a feeling this had the potential to go on all day. The chill winter wind swept across the camp, and she shivered, turning her collar up. "Nearly December." she muttered, mostly to herself, though she heard Latvia's mumbled reply. "No chance this'll be over by Christmas. Again."
"I-if it drags on longer than f-four years it'll be a w-world war world record." Latvia joked weakly.
So much for Christmas with the family then. Though that was potentially a good thing. As a few flakes of snow flurried past in the wind, she wondered. Was North safe? Or hurt? There was no way for her to know...
She set a mental goal. In the next 25 days, she would have North at home to spend Christmas with her, and then she'd work from there. Yeah, things went much faster with a goal in mind.
'Hold on North, I'm coming for you.'
----
'Scissors'
'Rock.'
'Okay, you totally hacked me that time.'
'I would never.'
'Can you just install Tetris in my head or something?'
'Um... I have Counter Strike here...'
'Old news, but whatever. Gimmie.'

Notes (lots!):
- Character notes for Czech: dropped "Republic" off the end because nobody calls France "French Republic" or England "Kingdom of England". Based appearance-wise off a co-worker I have from the Czech Republic. She's kind of epic awesome. The "prav" verbal tick is similar to China's "aru" in that is has no real meaning, though I derived it from the motto of the Czech Republic: "Pravda vítězí" or "Truth Prevails". Prav being the root word of "truth". Don't analyse it too deeply, it's just there because everyone in the Hetalia canon has a tick of some kind, eh, daze, aru, da?
- Character notes for Slovakia: Thought having a quiet character would offset the quite energetic Czech. Slovakia has a lot of mountains. That is my only reason for the boobs. They're not as big as Ukraine's but poor Ireland's still feeling inadequate. That said, as a Slav she is related to Ukraine, either as a cousin or a sister, idk. Ditto Czech. While she's quiet she's also quite intelligent and can have a deadly wit when needed. She's the same height as Hungary, mainly because of all the Hungarians that live in her.
- Czechoslovakia was from back when these two were married. Yes, married. There are no yuri ships in this fandom and there should be so there. They've been owned by... basically everyone. Austria-Hungary, Russia, Germany, Poland had a go once. It's like they had a massive "annex me!" sign on their backs.

Date: 2010-08-01 02:06 am (UTC)Thank you soo much for the update!! And Czech & Slovakia! Ditto for having yuuri couples haha. May be they are just too attractive together everyone wants to join their lesbian sex (oopps...did I just say that???)
I imagine Philippines will have big boobs too, then. I hope Philippines will be a girl ;)
Aaaw Ireland and sisterly instincts. Latvia needs some siblings love haha

Date: 2010-08-01 05:16 pm (UTC)Well it's what I'm here for. XD Moar yuri love kthx. They have an interesting dynamic, I'll give them that. So... maybe?
She's probably not going to end up in this story so much. There's already so much going on. Australia's probably got her covered in the protection thing, along with America.
Well, he'd get sibling love from Estonia if his brother wasn't in such a... predicament.

Date: 2010-08-01 07:13 am (UTC)Though now I'm seeing Czech and Slovakia as Haruka and Michiru from Sailor Moon orz. ;3;
I never really thought about there not being that many yuri ships tbh, mostly because I couldn't find female countries who had a strong enough relationship with other female nations who weren't idk, their siblings or something at the time. I'll be thinking on this more now. :|a
I'm thinking that all the married nations should get together for a fail couples' retreat now. /o/

Date: 2010-08-01 05:19 pm (UTC)... /cannot unsee damn it Cande.
People in this fandom are so desperate for yuri ships they're pairing Lichtenstein and Hungary. :| So Czech and Slovakia it is. At least, I ship it.
Lol everyone goes skiing in the alps and Austria kicks butt.
Edit: also it appears you messaged me on AIM earlier, while I was at work. I left my laptop on. Sorry!

Date: 2010-08-01 05:33 pm (UTC)Czech and Slovakia fight
Russiaevil by moonlight, andare dere over each otherwin love by daylight, didn't you know? XDDDlol it's true, I've seen it. My poor, desperate fandom orz. I'll have to turn my attentions to Africa now! /o/ Admittedly I initially saw Slovakia as male, but female works too! I'm flexible. XD
Austria and Hungary would be dressed so classy for their day of skiing. Portugal on the other hand, would probably freeze whilst England was "admiring" the Alps, all while Switzerland stands by being all "GTFO YOU LOVEBIRDS" /loads gun... because he is tsun and ronery. B|b
I did! But don't worry about it, I figured it was something like that. It happens. We can chat next time! o/ <3

Date: 2010-08-01 06:23 pm (UTC)Sailor Slovakia! Sailor Czech! Special attacks: Slovakian... winter... SKI RUSH! Czech... epic... ECONOMIC RECOVERY! /shotohgod
Africa has canon female characters but I don't see anyone shipping Kenya with Ethiopia. :| A shame. Slovakia sounded more like a girl's name to me. If anyone was gonna be male it would be Czech, but since the only Czech person I knew was a girl... it got influenced.
They probably have matching outfits for it. So professional. Poor Port, he'd be so miserable.
England can keep him warm.Lol oh Switzerland. This is what you get for being neutral.I-I keep missing you online damn this thing called liiiiife. ;A;

Date: 2010-08-02 10:36 am (UTC)or Prussiaand Hungary doing a rendition of "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" fff.In the name of the moon, I will punish you! *EPIC POSE* ;slkdf GUYS. DO THE FUSION DANCE. /o/ \o\
I don't see much shipping of Africa at all to tell you the truth orz;;; Though I remember Himaruya mentioning something about Czech and Slovakia being a duo of a young girl and an older man haha. That's probably why I recalled one was male. XD
Matching outfits that look entirely like they have never been worn skiing previously and they just look so perfect together that everyone is like ;3;. Throw a snowball in Port's face, England. He looks so handsome when his cheeks go really red. XD
I approve of this. :|a England tells Port to keep his hands in his pockets, so Port sticks them in England's instead and in the end they just hold hands like that orz.Switzerland is like those eunuch guards everyone hires but he fails at finding love himself. /RELOADS GUN B|;sdlkf it's okaaaaay. I blame timezones and work schedules and ;lsdkf. ;AAA;

Date: 2010-08-01 08:40 am (UTC)Austria. Look. No, behind you- too late, the frying pan got you.Ah... Ireland... Sometimes it's nice to NOT have those... mountains. Somehow I think that Austria, Russia and Germany went for them because of those... erm, mountainous regions. And maybe Poland.
Aww, Ireland. Dun worry, North is having some fun with dear Eesti right now. <3 I love the little part about the computer games btw. Oh North. Oh North. ^^;;;;
The yuri. YES, THE YURI. Somehow it really disappoints me that all the female nation-tans don't have close relations. Or loathe each other.
Darn. I really want to read that Director's Cut. Ah well, I'll be content with this now. It has Czech and Slovakia after all.

Date: 2010-08-01 05:24 pm (UTC)Lol and Prussia bursts into laughter in the distance for reasons unknown to Germany.Ireland's not small, just average. When around all these European Nations... yeah. So maybe the "annex me" sign is on the front rather than the back? /shot.
Well by that time Counter Strike will be old news, but easy to install on things. Such as North's brain. After all this is over he'll probably keep it installed and daydream using it during meetings.
Or are sisters, not that that stops fandom or anything.
I'll un-friendlock it once the story's over, for everyone to see. Until then!

Date: 2010-08-03 02:30 pm (UTC)And Germany convinces himself it's just the beer.Well, European nations… except for the Low Countries. Under sea level. XDDD It doesn't help that Belgium's a girl.
I will wait patiently. -sits and sips juice-

Date: 2010-08-01 09:19 am (UTC)Now that's just NOT FAIR. I WANNA READ IT TOO.
I do like your Czech and Slovak. Not that I really know that much about them to be able to tell if they're accurate. And yes, this fandom needs moar yuri. Although you do realize that they'd pretty surely be sisters? Or at least cousins. I'd say they are cousins with the East Slavs and the South Slavs and siblings together. With Poland possibly, since he's West Slav too. Oh my god, now I'm imagining two twin female Polands...
It's like they had a massive "annex me!" sign on their backs.
Oh yes. Poor girls.
Oh yeah and I suppose you could call her Czechia, right?
no subject
Date: 2010-08-01 05:48 pm (UTC)\o/ Glad they're so well received! I've never been to either Czech or Slovakia so I can't tell you much beyond what I know from my Czech friend. Moar yuri for hetalia! Let's start a campaign! And they probably are sisters or something but really it's Europe. Everyone is related to each other. There is no escaping it.
I could call her Czechia, yeah... might go and change it.

Date: 2010-08-01 06:25 pm (UTC)True enough. It's like the royals.
Well, Czech works too, seems like that's what most people use anyway. Iunno, we don't have that problem in our language.
no subject
Date: 2010-08-01 06:35 pm (UTC)Pretty much. It's like how every royal family was related to Victoria at one point.
It all depends on whether I can be bothered. Finnish works differently?

Date: 2010-08-01 06:47 pm (UTC)I think most languages do have a name for it... Idk, here it's Tšekki, using the good old Finnish method of "just stick an -i in the end and double the last consonant if it's still too short". (We don't like short words, clearly. Oh and we just hate c and z (too foreign!!) so it must be tš instead.) Then again, we generally don't use adjectives in country names, we use genitive. Like "France's Republic" rather than "French Republic". */very interesting, I'm sure*

Date: 2010-08-01 09:30 pm (UTC)Even if it's short /sobI especially like the Czech-Slovakia dynamic. (and girl/girl marriage. Usually Slovakia is portrayed as male) and Austria's wandering eye was lulzy.
But... why would four years be a World War record?
