Family Ties [Part 41]
May. 9th, 2010 12:29 amTitle: Family Ties
Characters (in this chapter): America, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and two surprises (I seem to like doing this)
Rating: 15
Warnings: pleasedon'tkillmeforthisoneplease!!
Summary: Uh, I need to be banned from the kink meme or monsters like this happen? Essentially, Scotland leaves the UK, which gives Northern Ireland an excuse to up and out as well, which leaves England and Wales all alone. Oh yeah, and this somehow leads to World War Three.
The map didn't seem to have any sort of order to it. There were arrows and notes and tactics scribbled everywhere, sentences crossed out by disagreements or changes in plan due to the NWO being unpredictable bastards, giant red crosses and stars next to battle sites as well as a big black X over where Omsk used to be. India was re-coloured in a darker blue, as well as Afghanistan, as they both joined the WDF team in full.
What the hell was Russia thinking? America wondered, frowning at the desk as though he could try and force the collection of wiggly lines and coded colours to make sense. He'd just crippled him on his home territory, that much was shown by the sudden disappearance of NWO forces from American soil, but now he sent his Arab buddies to pester the second-greatest economical superpower in the world? And at the same time start menacing Germany because Poland had just been coloured in bright yellow as WDF conquered territory, as well as all the Baltic states...
It didn't make sense. But then, since when did Russia of all people make sense?
His eyes flickered over to the British isles. The WDF had pushed Scotland nearly up to the boarder again, but England and Wales... were nowhere to be found. No contact, no messages, hell there wasn't even a letter. There were garbled messages at the time before they'd vanished about Birmingham and a bomb, but they had those cool tanks, right? That would keep them safe, right?
... right?
A camera flash went off somewhere to his right, and he looked over at Brazil, who grinned.
"What the heck was that for?" Alfred blinked the spots out of his eyes.
"Nobody will believe me if I say 'America looks thoughtful sometimes', so now I have photographic proof." the South American Nation sniggered. America frowned, but couldn't stop returning the smile.
"Hey man, not cool."
Mexico flounced into the room in her pilot gear and practically threw herself onto a conveniently placed sofa, sighing frustratedly. "If there any way to keep China out of the Pacific for more than a month?! He's rebuilding the blockade again and it's really annoying to have to take them out!"
"Maybe if we synch it to your cycle you can let off some steam- woah!" America ducked as a very heavy pilot's helmet went sailing straight for his face. "Don't kill me! At least we're on a winning streak now."
Canada poked his head in. "Ahh, Al, you'll jinx it!"
"Hahaha, silly Mattie, there's no such thing as jinxes or magic. That's silly kid's stuff, a hero isn't afraid of that!"
Something beeped. After the initial instinctive checking of pockets for phones going off, the Nations turned to the doorway that lead through into the computer room. Sharing glances, America looked through to check the screens.
"Huh. I have a skype call?"
The others followed him (Mexico with a little grunt of effort) trying to check the caller. "Is that... isn't that Estonia's addy?" queried Canada, tilting his head to the side to try and read the number-peppered username better.
"l33tlad4000? Yeah, that's him." America scratched his head. "He's my tech support for when Windows crashes."
The call kept ringing.
"Isn't he... taken over by Russia?" Brazil frowned larger than average eyebrows at the screen.
"Si, far as I remember." Mexico folded her arms. Everyone looked at America. The phone call never stopped, and it had been nearly two minutes now.
"Oh fine, I'll answer it, geez!" he grumbled, clicking on the answer button. The screen flashed up as a web cam, the image nearly immediately filling the screen with the terrifying face of...
Ukraine?
(Unnoticed as usual, Canada went slightly pink.)
"Oh! Natasha, look, Estonia's computer really can do everything! I can see WDF headquarters!"
The significantly more scary face of Belarus peered into the camera accusingly. She appeared to be sharpening a knife off camera, if the sounds they were hearing weren't just static from bad reception.
"I am going to kill you very, very slowly America." she said darkly.
Said Nation was currently scrambling to turn his webcam off. "Gaah! Stop looking, that's cheating!"
"I thought all was fair in love and war?" Ukraine pouted in a confused way, tilting her head. "Anyway, we called to tell you that we're joining Vanya's side now, and that you can consider yourself an enemy of the entire Braginsky family." She looked over to one side of the room, nearly sheepish. A helpless shrug set her chest heaving. "Sorry Matvey. Family first."
"Wait wait wait wait- you're joining the war?" America pointed at the screen. "I thought you guys declared neutrality!"
"And now we are declaring war." Ukraine said, her cheery voice covering something frighteningly like Russia that lurked beneath the surface. "Understand?"
Everybody gaped.
"Khoroshyy." she smiled. "You may all want to step away from Alfred and Matvey."
The ground shook.
The windows rattled.
Both brothers choked in unison, and coughed up blood onto the floor.
And then came the sound of destruction.
Notes:
- If these maps sound familiar, it is an indication of how much I appreciate them. /infinite love
- Matvey is the Russian form of the name Matthew. Like how France tends to call him Mattieu. I think it's cute shut up.
- Khoroshyy = "good". Simple, da?
- I kind of... fear... the reaction to this chapter. Please don't be too upset with me? *hides*

They so totally have things that can shoot down missiles now, nuclear or not.

Date: 2010-05-09 12:34 am (UTC)Ah. But what about stealth missiles? TECHNOLOGY LEAPS, I CAN HAS THEM.

(It was Michigan, wasn't it? B|)
I'm kind of sort of worried about England and Wales but not really because I know they'll pull through as soon as they get out of that big hole.
no subject
Date: 2010-05-09 12:40 am (UTC)But that defeats the point of the story~!
(I dunno, do you live there? 8D)
Really... big... hole...
no subject
Date: 2010-05-09 12:53 am (UTC)I foresee two very muddy, very angry Britons at the bottom of that hole.

I think my heart just missed a beat.

Date: 2010-05-09 01:05 am (UTC)Thankfully I think I'm used to these... d-dreadful cliff hangers. I'm more concerned for Iggy and Wales than America and Matty, though =w=; Sorry, North America, it's only 'cause I know you'll be okay! ...right?!
And yay Brazil 8D Here's hoping Germany shows up soon~? ♥

Date: 2010-05-10 11:51 pm (UTC)Well there's gonna be another chapter tomorrow probably so you'll get your answers then~!
no subject
Date: 2010-05-11 11:07 am (UTC)Oh and actually, if you think about it, Matt has a way smaller population, concentrated on a way smaller area, so even if the attacks where as bad for both brothers, Matt would still get hurt worse.
Never mind me, I just have no life.
no subject
Date: 2010-05-11 04:49 pm (UTC)And I'll wait for reading it today!
no subject
Date: 2010-05-09 09:42 am (UTC)No not America and Canada too oh god the destruction never ends orz.
It's gloriously epic. And Ivan's entire family is potentially crazy. I thought as much. And family first, eh? Now if only a certain few other nations would get that into their heads ;lsfkf.

Date: 2010-05-10 11:53 pm (UTC)This, my dear, is war.
I'm glad you think so. I've been worried about getting carried away though, please hit me if I do... I'm already losing readers to my madness ahaha orzCarrying on with the whole "family" theme here. It runs quick and fast ahaha, at least for those who aren't brainwashed.

Right, I added a few new cathegories as you can probably see. M for missing personifications (since there seems to be a fair number of them by now and I wanted to mark them somehow) and Q for more information needed aka the author is being a bastard and not telling us something so I can't update it. =3= *glares* As in I have no idea where Matt and Al got hit. Q because a question mark looks stupid.
And then there's the black star for nuclear attack.
Sorry if those letters look lame, I couldn't think of anything else. *shrug* Oh and I guess N-I is technically missing for his allies too but he's got enough markings already anyway.
Yay for finally getting to use the WDF conquered area colour. \o/
Yeah...
Looking at Omsk makes me incredibly depressed. ._.;;;
Okay, I totally agree with
And... well. Yeah... Reading this chapter now again just makes me feel kinda cold and horrible. .____o Especially every mention of the brothers.
I would have commented about anti-missile tech too but
no subject
Date: 2010-05-09 10:18 pm (UTC)He's not really missing so much as they know he's probably with NWO, but not how to get him back (though Ireland's rampaging so yeah) so you're fine.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THAT! \o/
*pets and tries to make you feel better only wait it's only gonna get worse*
You can't grow up around Russia that long and not absorb SOME yandere tendencies. Beside which I think crazy might run in the family.
In the arms race it is always important to be one above your enemies. Russia and America have been trying to outdo each other for nearly 100 years by this point; I think it'd be easy for Ivan to slip back into the swing of technologically outdoing his rival/enemy. Besides, he's been waiting for America to strike first, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been preparing a counter-attack.

Date: 2010-05-09 11:13 pm (UTC)Oh right. Makes sense. And makes things easier too, of course.
DDD8
Indeed. =3=b Plus remember how she was at least a bit of an opportunist as a kid.
And yeah, it does make sense like that, the tech bit. Didn't think about that but it works. Oh hey and you typo'd "Braginsky" btw! ... and now I actually remember I noticed the same typo in chap39 too. And only now I realized why Ukraine calling Belarus "sister" vaguely bothered me... wouldn't she call her "Natasha" like she calls Russia "Vanya"?
/rp account
Date: 2010-05-09 11:22 pm (UTC)I did? Oh buggery, I did. It's meant to be Braginsky isn't it? *smacks head* And you make a good point there. I'll go back and edit that.
Re: /rp account
Date: 2010-05-09 11:29 pm (UTC)Yup. (Btw, there's a region in Belarus called "Bragin". I think that's where the name comes from. Braginsky basically means something along the lines of "from Bragin" I guess? It's near Ukraine too.) And yay. \o/
OMGWTF
Date: 2010-05-10 12:50 am (UTC)No, not Mattie, no! And, and Al! It wasn't one of those huge h-bombs right? Couldn't possibly be that bad, right? right? right?
Ukraine, you're supposed to be the sane one!
Family Ties is really starting to scare me... but it's so damn good I can't stop reading!
EXACTLY.
Date: 2010-05-10 11:57 pm (UTC)But she is still Braginsky, da?
s-sorry it scares you it's just how I roll man D8
Re: EXACTLY.
Date: 2010-05-11 12:44 pm (UTC)Yes... and it's changed my idea of what she's like in my head. Oh god, if she wanted to she could be the mastermind behind lots of stuff. She could even be worse than Russia! It's always worse when evil is more calculated. *shudder*
The scary is good. It is. It's just.. frightening because you're making it so realistic, especially with the latest attacks. The OMG that could actually happen factor is starting to make me paranoid.
